If a book you need is not available in our library or in the Northeast Tennessee Library Network, we can try to obtain the item through Interlibrary Loan. Interlibrary Loan is a courtesy extended among most libraries in the United States. While this service is free within the state of Tennessee, libraries in other states may charge ($10.00 minimum) for this service, and we pass this charge along to you.
The Reference staff will make every effort to secure books and photocopies for users with JCPL Library Cards in good standing. Please come to the Reference Desk on the second floor to make ILL requests. Be prepared to provide as much information as possible about the requested item.
There are a few exclusions to this service
Books published within the last year may not be requested.
Audio-visual materials such as videos and sound recordings may not be requested.
Photocopies are limited to 20 pages and must comply with copyright requirements.
Genealogical materials are not usually available for loan
We will be happy to provide you with locations for materials not available for loan.
